No More Politics About America's Energy Needs
(June 13, 2008)

USA as flag

I vividly remember the terrible, negative impact here in the USA that was caused by the OPEC oil embargo during the late-1970's . . . and for 30 years have been amazed at the various political roadblocks preventing our country to again be self-sufficient in its energy needs.

Why should we have to wait "how many years" until alternative energy like hydrogen can replace America's dependency on oil from OPEC and other foreign suppliers when we could have and can still do something until then?

Why are we not tapping America's oil deposits in shale when they are three times more than Saudi Arabia's?  What

about the new steam technology available to environmentally extract the oil that keeps the land as is?  We don't want environmental reasons why not to do so, but environmental reasons on how to do so.  And wouldn't doing so be an economic advantage for our country . . . creating new jobs and lowering the cost of energy?
Why is China drilling off Florida's cost, but US energy companies cannot do so?  Shouldn't the oil deposits nearest our country benefit us instead of China and other countries?  How is this economically and politically good for our country?

We would also gain control over the environmental issues relative to China and other countries drilling off of America's shores. (States refusing to do so need to be thinking about what is good for all of America.)

What about nuclear power?  Why are progressive countries like France and Italy fully committed to using nuclear power to meet their electrical energy needs? (Finalize the decision on a remote place for the small amount of the nuclear waste . . . for the good of all the country.)

And about using hydrogen as a fuel for cars . . . What is the actual transitioning time frame when hydrogen can be used economically while minimizing the impact to the global economy?

So, all elected officials in Washington, D.C. and at the state level . . . wake up to the reality of America's energy needs for today and the near future.

Sadly, the alarm started to ring loudly with the OPEC embargo in the 1970's.
