A Soldier

A soldier, that is what most people call them
individually. The dictionary defines them as “A person in military
service: an enlisted man or woman.” The word “Soldier” is used on a
daily basis in the military, as is it found in the everyday language
of any American citizen. But, few people are able to realize what
the title of “Soldier” is able to sum up in one simple word.
A Soldier is an individual and a team in one being. They are the
ones who step forward, when everyone else steps back. They are the
people who risk their lives to save someone, who they have never
even seen. Without them, there would be no America.
When General Washington went to battle, who went with him? Soldiers.
When the Civil War was at its peak, who went to battle? Soldiers.
Even today, they are the people who are supporting
America through every obstacle it encounters. A Colonel once said
this about a soldier, “Such a scene of sorrow and weeping I had
never before witnessed . . . We were then about to part from
the man who had conducted us through a long and bloody war, and
under whose conduct the glory and independence of our country had
been achieved.”
They slept on the ground through rain and snow. In combat, boys of
18 stood at attention as the sound of death beat against there ears.
It is because of there undying courage and strength, that our
country is known as ... “The land of the free, and the HOME OF THE
BRAVE.”
